Self-Portrait Tuesday

I apparently do not have one original bone in my body as I am going to take yet another idea from Windy. She participates in a "self-portrait tuesday" which comes from this blog, amuse-bouche . I really like this idea because so often as Moms we become to involved in children and do not take a moment to be who we really are, or who we used to be. I have been wanted to do this for a while but have lacked the courage. I think that I am finally ready...

Each week she issues a challenge to blog something about yourself. This week the challenge was to hunt for something *eggs*tra special about your weekend.

This weekend was special because Brandon took my boys to El Paso and I was able to spend all of Friday and Saturday with my beautiful daughter. We have never had this opportunity and it was so fun to enjoy her at the stage she is in. She is so fun right now and we had a wonderful time playing together. I know that she enjoyed the un-interupted attention that she was able to get. Shh... please don't tell the boys, they are confident that she was lonely and missed them while they were gone!

I am grateful for my Savior

Jesus Christ

As today is Easter I feel that I need to express my gratitude for the sacrifice that my Savior made for me. The example that He left with us to follow gives me a goal to be more like him. He was kind, honest, and loving. He had patience with all men, and took the time to teach them all that they need to know to return to out Father. Then he died for us, so that when we make mistakes we can repent for them, and still be allowed to be with our Father again. I know that without the gospel I would not have my wonderful family. I know that I would have very little of the truly important things things in life if it were not for the sacrifice that He made for me. Each day I try to remember Him and be more like him.

The Easter Bunny brought the kids rice krispie nest this year, instead of baskets. This is something that I remember getting as a kid and I always liked it. We also gave the boys a little something. Eric got two new books and Josh a sand craft.

Here they are in their new Easter clothes! What a beautiful bunch of kids!

After church the Piñon families came over. We had a wonderful Easter dinner and the kids had an Easter egg hunt.

And this year we combined Easter with Grandpa Piñon and Aunt Marissa's birthday, which is tomorrow. Happy Birthday!!

THE CRIME: The dog hit its head against Katelyn head. Note the fifty-cent piece size bump above left eye.

THE PUNISHMENT: Temporary banishment to the backyard while Mom calmed down Katelyn. Katelyn appears to be fine, but must be observed periodically throughout the night.

10 years ago...
Brandon and I had been married about 1 ½ years. We did not have children. We were living in a rental house near Edith and Montaño. I was working at Burlington Coat Factory as a Men’s associate. I think that I was taking classes at UNM. What I remember most about this time in our lives is that we would take weekends off and go on mini-vacations. It was so fun!

5 years ago…
Brandon and I had been married about 6 ½ years. Eric was 3 ½ and Joshua was 4 months old. We were living in Lake Havasu City Arizona. I was delivering newspapers for Today’s NewsHerald. I was very active in my MOMS Club. We would like to take trip to the lake and visit Las Vegas.

1 year ago…Brandon and I had been married for 10 ½ years. Eric was 7, Josh was 4 and I was pregnant with Katie. We were about to find out that she was a girl. I was working part-time as a customer service supervisor at Burlington Coat Factory. We were excited to have a new baby in our house while enjoying all the fun things that bigger kids do.

The wonderful finds in the kitchen cabinets

Today Katie found the kitchen cabinets. This particular one is my miscellaneous cabinet where I keep the stuff I only need every once in a while. In my opinion there is nothing exciting in there. But my daughter loved it. She found everything very interesting, the noises, the tastes, and the way it all fell onto the floor. She had a great time playing in it.

Watching her get into this cabinet made me realize that I have others that are not as harmless as this one. So out to the garage I go to find the childproofing stuff that I came across when we moved. Thankfully I found it and now the "bad" cabinets are secure. Josh wanted to help and so I had him plug up the electrical outlets. He was very concerned about what she could get into. He even blocked the ones that are too high. What a great brother!

Sick House

What a week! All of the kids have been sick here. We have finally been touched by the flu, stomach flu, that is, twice. We have also had a respiratory and an ear infection. Lucky Josh, he is the one that been sick twice. Last week he had the ear infection and the flu. I would have hope that the antibiotics that he was on for the ear infection would have protected him from the flu. Guess not. But thankfully he wasn't that sick. Eric missed two days of school this week with the flu. I am thankful to report that he went back today. And Katie had the respiratory infection. She had to have a breathing treatment at the doctors to help with that and she is on Albuterol to bring up the rest of the gunk in her lungs. I am anxious for spring and to be finished with all of the nasty stuff that has been going around this winter.
