Wake up call

This morning started way. to. early.  But it always does.

What was different was that Katie got up at 6:15,  full hour earlier than normal.  Brandon was in the shower and I was in denial that this was all happening.  I was pretending to sleep when I noticed that she was climbing into my bed.  Nothing new there.  What did give me a wonderful surprise was that she learned over, so softly, and kissed me.  It was the most wonderful wake up call I have had in a long time.

A great start to my morning from my sweet little girl.

Valentine Wreath

I found this super cute wreath at The Girl Creative.  I had to make it for my mother-in-law.

Instead of using ribblon, like she did, I went to Hobby Lobby and got three great fabrics at 30% off!  They were so perfect to create the soft, sweet look I was wanting.  And for only about $4.00

I purchased 1/4 of a yard of each one.  I was not sure how much I needed and it was not mentioned in the orginal tutorial.  It turned out that I had enough for two.  So if you are looking to make just one, an 1/8 of a yard would would be perfect.

I tore the fabric to create the frayed look.

Then I had my husband make me a heart with an old wire hanger using the suggestion that she had to link the ends.

Then I tied each strip of fabric on, using the same order each time.

This was the result.  Not as whimsical as the example, but I think that it is perfect none the less.  It was fun to make and I love the way it turned out.  Thank you Girl Creative!

getting comfortable

Brandon likes to lay on the couch and he always, ALWAYS falls asleep!  Kate's favorite thing to do is to climb on top and get comfy on Daddy's tummy.  Which, of course, make a nice soft place to sit.  Aren't they sweet?

Yes, I am cRAzy!

This is the last weekend that I will have "free."

What I mean by that, is that on Tuesday, I start my spring semester at UNM.  This is the last weekend that I will have not have the constant thought of homewook, papers, and/or tests on my mind until mid-May.

To add to it all, I am taking 18 credits this term.  Yup, you read that right 18 credit hours.  And I do know that I am absolutly insane.  Check me into Dammasch now!

I think that I can do it.  More importantly, I have to do it.  I have to carry two semesters of 18 credits to enter the teaching program fall of 2011.  I can get out of the other semster of 18 credits is I can get permission to take 9 credits this summer. 

On the positive end of all this I am taking some really interesting classes.  I am taking US Colonial History and US Political History.  I am especially excited about the Political History class.  So fascinating!  I am also taking Statistics, Economics, Educational Psychology, and Music Appreciation.  The music is my (hopefully) my "cake" class.  At least that is what every says about it. 

So, here's to my last "free" weekend. 

Despite the statements that will follow...  I STILL DESTEST WALMART.

Today I went to Walmart for some groceries.  Me and Kate.  I had told her that if she was very good then I would let her pick out a piece of candy.  But let's be realistic, she is only two and well...

But she was good, very good.  And sweet too.  So, I was able to get everything on my list.  So nice!

Then I went to checkout and I actually got a nice cashier!  WOW! 

And when a gallon of milk fell off the bottom of the basket (without my knowing) a kind gentleman returned it to me!

A great experience shopping today... at Walmart, no less.  Amazing.

something for me

I need to do more for me. Not the kids, or Brandon, but sloppy, tired, disorganized me.  But, the kids, Brandon, work, school, and life keep me busy.  So I need to find a fun, simple, and easy way to take better care of myself. 

I follow this great websire called "somewhat simple."  I love the craf ideas that she posts.  This month she is running a "feeling fabulous challenge."  So, I thought, why not try it?  It can't hurt, but only help me.  Simple, easy things to for me to do, for, with the potential to win a prize.  Does it get any better than this?

I will let you know how I am doing.  And please feel free to participate yourself.  It can be fun!

Welcome Twenty - Ten!

How did you celebrate the ending of 2009?

We went to the Johnson's house where we had dinner with them, the Brown's, and Missionaries.  While the kids played hide 'n seek and other games, the adults (after the Elders left) played games, right up until the very last minutes of the year. 

Did the kids stay up, you ask?  YES!!!  As we approached midnight the older ones where going strong ...

...while some of the younger ones were struggling with a bit of grumpiness (Josh would not even look at the camera!).

The babies (as they will always be called) were asleep long before we entered this decade.

Here we are celebrating the arrival of 2010 with a drink, Mormon style, Martinelli's.
